Golden Globe nominee and Filipino acting powerhouse Dolly de Leon just unlocked another milestone in her career. The breakout star of Triangle of Sadness is officially joining the cast of Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 on Netflix—this time, as not one, but two characters.

De Leon has been cast as Lo and Li, the firebending mentors to Azula, the fierce princess of the Fire Nation. The iconic twin characters are known for their quiet strength and strategic minds, and it’s a role that hits a sweet spot for the seasoned actress.

“I’m extremely excited and honored to be part of an iconic live-action version of an animated cult classic,” shared de Leon. “It’s my first time to play twins, which is the best fun in a creative process. It’s a dream come true.”

Global Recognition Meets Filipino Excellence

Dolly’s inclusion in the Avatar universe isn’t just another casting announcement—it’s a cultural moment. Representation matters, and seeing a Filipino talent join one of the most beloved franchises in TV history is a win for the entire region.

CreaZion Studios, the talent management agency behind de Leon, echoed this sentiment proudly.

“We’re proud to see Filipino talent represented in a globally beloved series,” said RJ San Agustin, CEO of CreaZion Studios. “It’s more than just a role; it’s a statement of how far our creatives can go.”

This move comes as the entertainment industry continues to embrace a wider spectrum of voices, faces, and backgrounds, proving that Filipino artistry deserves a global stage.

More Than a Role—It’s a Legacy in the Making

For long-time fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender, the announcement promises new layers to Season 2’s narrative. With Azula’s storyline intensifying, the addition of Lo and Li—portrayed by one actress—signals bold storytelling ahead.

And for Gen-Z and Zillennial viewers who grew up on the animated version or discovered it during its Netflix resurgence, it’s a nostalgic yet refreshing reboot. This casting choice brings authentic talent and cross-cultural flair into the mix, proving once again that great storytelling knows no borders.
