From viral hits like Dilaw to Kahel na Langit and Bughaw, the 25-year-old singer-songwriter is finally serving the full spectrum with his first full-length album.
If you’ve ever found yourself overthinking a memory because of a song, there’s a good chance Maki was playing. The 25-year-old singer-songwriter has a rare ability. He taps directly into the heart of his listeners.
Who wouldn’t? His songs penetrate through the soul. With poetic lyrics, vivid imagery, and a raw kind of vulnerability, Maki captures what it feels like to fall in love, break apart, heal, and feel everything all over again.
After a string of emotional, color-coded singles, Maki is ready to release his most anticipated project. His songs have gone viral and soundtracked countless TikToks and late-night drives. Now, his debut studio album, Kolorcoaster, drops on September 19.
Here’s What We Know So Far About Maki’s ‘Kolorcoaster’ Album
The album’s name says it all. Kolorcoaster promises a full-on ride through emotions, with every track representing a different color, vibe, and version of love. From the sun-drenched warmth of Kahel ng Langit to the ache and longing in Bughaw, Maki isn’t just writing songs; he’s crafting feelings in full color. Each release so far has felt like a sneak peek into a much bigger story, and now, we’re finally getting the full picture.
Tarsier Records made the official announcement just before the end of July. They also gave a first look at the album artwork. It’s a vibrant, trippy, and emotional swirl of color that already feels iconic. On social media, Maki shared the release date. Fans wasted no time flooding his comments with excited reactions and support.
To note, over the past year, Maki has dropped several standout tracks that made their way to playlists, reels, and people’s hearts. Dilaw gained massive traction, enough to earn a ‘warmer’ version that ended up as the official theme song for My Love Will Make You Disappear, a romantic comedy film now available on Netflix starring Kim Chiu and Paolo Avelino. Then there’s Namumula, Bughaw, and of course, his latest single, Kahel ng Langit—all of which are confirmed to be part of the album. That’s already four tracks down, with six more unreleased songs still under wraps.
As Maki puts it: “It’s going to be a crazy ride, but I hope you can ride with us in this Kolorcoaster.” And based on everything we’ve heard from him so far, we’re more than ready to hop on.
Beyond the Studio: Maki’s Live Presence
Outside of the studio, Maki has also been making waves on stage. He recently wrapped up a string of international shows across North America. Maki toured with James Reid and Silent Sanctuary, and fans in Los Angeles got a taste of his live sound. He also collaborated with Sophia Laforteza of the global girl group KATSEYE, and they filmed fun content together. This proves Maki’s energy is just as magnetic offstage. Earlier this year, he made surprise appearances for LANY at the Philippine Arena and at BINI’s BINIverse concert.
With a full album just weeks away, a growing fanbase, and a vibe that feels both personal and universal, Maki is clearly on the rise. And Kolorcoaster is just the beginning of many to come. So go ahead and mark your calendars for September 19. Whether you’re heartbroken, in love, or somewhere in between, Maki’s got a color—and a song—for that.
