From ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ to ‘The Secrets of Hotel 88’: Ex-PBB Collab Housemates Spill All

May 13, 2026

May 13, 2026
Life in the limelight is full of secrets. Being seen, admired, and followed can sometimes mean learning how to hide the darker corners of your life. When you’re constantly in the spotlight, people begin to feel like they know you, like your life is an open book.

But even the most public lives have pages that stayed folded, chapters that remained private, and stories that aren’t meant for everyone. So much happens behind the camera. The pauses between scenes, the quiet moments after the lights go out, the thoughts that never make it to the final cut. And this is where the real stories often live.

The Secrets of Hotel 88_Genzmagazine_Shot by @em.baun

Interestingly, something has been shifting in this new generation of actors and actresses. The old formula of maintaining mystery and hiding behind polished images and perfectly curated personas no longer works.

Many of today’s rising stars grew up as digital natives, navigating a world shaped by constant change online. They’ve seen how filters, edits, and carefully constructed images have created versions of people that feel distant and almost unreal. That’s why Gen Zs are leaning towards authenticity—embracing imperfection, awkwardness, and what it means to be young and still learning.

The Secrets of Hotel 88_Genzmagazine_Shot by Em.baun_7

And probably that’s the reason why Pinoy Big Brother is such a hit. There’s literally nowhere to hide inside the house. Personalities unfold in real time, emotions surface under pressure, and viewers get to see real individuals who are figuring things out moment by moment.

In this special feature, former PBB Collab housemates Xyriel Manabat, Ralph de Leon, Bianca de Vera, Dustin Yu, Esnyr Ranollo, River Joseph, and Brent Manalo share what life has been like after the cameras stopped rolling, reflecting on their transition from reality TV to their newest project, The Secrets of Hotel 88, and the lessons they’ve learned about staying grounded, growing in the industry, and embracing authenticity along the way.

Brent Manalo on Waiting for the Perfect Time and Opportunity

Glory comes to those who wait. In an age of instant gratification and fast-changing trends, sometimes waiting for the ‘right moment’ can feel exhausting. While everyone seems to be doing something, moving ahead, or figuring it out, it’s easy to feel like you’re falling behind. However, for Brent Manalo, even during significant moments like his victory with Mika Salamanca in Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab, one thing became evident: timing is everything. And sometimes, sincerity, emotional openness, and real human connection only land when the timing is right.

Known for his roles in The Broken Marriage Vow, Beach Bros, and The Secrets of Hotel 88, Brent has steadily built a name in the industry as someone intentional with his craft and choices. For him, success has never been about rushing but more about aligning with who he really is.

“I think my motto in life has always been ‘as long as you’re being yourself and you’re not hurting anyone.'”

Brent Manalo_Genzmagph_Shotby Em Baun

Inside the PBB house, stripped of routines and distractions, a different side of Brent came through. Someone more vulnerable, more open, and more willing to express emotions he once kept to himself.

“I learned how to share more and really talk about my emotions and feelings that I don’t usually do before.”

Through living closely with different personalities inside the PBB house, Brent began to understand himself better. The experience has reshaped how he processes people, pressure, and personal boundaries. He learned early on in the industry how important it is to stay grounded and authentic, even when external expectations start to grow louder.

Brent Manalo_Genzmagph_Shotby @Em.Baun_

Of course, staying true to yourself isn’t always simple. Brent admits there were moments when it felt isolating, like everyone else was moving differently, thinking differently, and being differently.

“At the beginning, it would feel like everyone is against you, or everyone isn’t like you, but you’ll find your people.”

There were also moments of doubt, times when he questioned whether he should adjust just to fit in. But instead of losing himself in comparison, he learned the beauty of discernment—of knowing where to place yourself and when to step back. “I learned how to have a switch. Compartmentalize.” For him, it’s about understanding when to be flexible and when to stay firm, especially in a work environment where personalities, expectations, and pressures constantly shift.

Brent Manalo_Genzmagph_Shotby @Em.Baun

He also shared that joining PBB was not an easy yes. It was a push-and-pull decision, filled with hesitation. But after going through multiple auditions and processes, he realized something important: opportunities like that don’t come often. “I didn’t want to waste the opportunity.”

Even as someone with a naturally calm personality, Brent admits he once struggled with initiating conversations, especially with people who had louder or more dominant energy. But the experience inside the house helped him grow more comfortable navigating different personalities, something he knows is essential in the industry he’s in.

Brent Manalo_Genzmagph_Shotby @Em.Baun

As he transitions from reality TV into more acting projects like The Secrets of Hotel 88, Brent reflects on how everything he’s experienced—failures, delays, and detours—starts to make sense in hindsight.

“Like all failures, all the struggles in the past, it would make sense. You just have to wait for the perfect time and perfect opportunity.”

He believes that if some opportunities had come earlier in his journey, he might not have been ready for them yet. Timing, for him, has been preparing him for something bigger and better. Throughout his career, Brent has remained mindful of his choices, both on and off screen. Even when joining trends or adapting to changes, he makes sure there’s still a part of himself in everything he does. “I would inject something that would really be me.”

Brent Manalo_Genzmagph_Shotby Em Baun

In contrast to his personality, his character, Gio Cabrera in The Secrets of Hotel 88, is more carefree, bold, and unafraid, which has allowed him to explore a different range as an actor and further expand his versatility. As he continues navigating the industry, Brent leans into going with the flow but stays rooted. “Whatever is offered to me, if it’s in line with who I am or if I envision myself in that project, I would say yes to that.” He remains open to meaningful opportunities, especially projects that spark purpose, conversation, and joy. But above all, he holds onto one non-negotiable principle: never lose himself in the process.

“I don’t want to lose my sense of self over a project. So just as long as it’s in line with who I am.”

Xyriel Manabat on Being Strong, Vocal, and Unapologetically Real

“Kuha mo?” Who could forget Xyriel Manabat‘s iconic catchphrase from the hit 2011 teleserye 100 Days to Heaven? Not every child actress could pull off such a sharp, demanding character with so much confidence, but Xyriel delivered it effortlessly and literally left no crumbs. Even at a young age, she carried a presence that was impossible to ignore. And over the years, from one role to another, she continued to show the same intensity and charm that kept audiences watching her closely.

Xyril-Manabat_Genzmagph_ShotbyEm-Baun

Growing up on television, Xyriel has portrayed numerous characters that Filipino viewers welcomed into their homes. But like many child stars, she didn’t just grow up in the industry. She grew through it. Time passed, people matured, and so did she. That evolution, she believes, is something audiences are slowly beginning to understand.

That’s why joining Pinoy Big Brother became such an important turning point in her journey.

“One of the reasons why I joined PBB is really to show them who I am,” she shared. “Aside from being an actor or child actress. Parang gusto ko rin na makita nila na nag-transition ako. Na hindi na ako ‘yong batang akala nila ako.”

Xyril-Manabat_Genzmagph_ShotbyEm-Baun

For Xyriel, the experience became more than just another project. It was an opportunity to reintroduce herself, not as the child star many remembered, but as someone ready to explore new spaces, new characters, and new possibilities.

And for those who follow her closely, they know that what they saw in the house wasn’t a performance. The sass, the courage to take up space, and the confidence to speak her mind go far beyond the characters she plays. On social media, Xyriel has become known for being vocal about women’s empowerment, gender sensitivity, body positivity, and authenticity. “Hindi ako natatakot na baka may masabi sila.”

Xyril-Manabat_Genzmagph_Shotby Em-Baun

For her, using her voice has always been intentional. She believes in educating, challenging outdated mindsets, and spreading awareness about issues that deserve to be talked about. And more than anything, she sees it as a responsibility—to stand up not only for herself but also for those who may not yet have the courage or platform to speak.

With such a strong personality, she shared that her father initially had reservations about her joining PBB. He worried that her boldness might land her in constant conflict inside the house. Xyriel, however, recalled their conversation with a laugh. “Pag na-miss ko kayo, makikipag-away na lang ako para ma-force evict ako,” she joked.

Xyril Manabat_Genzmagph_Shotby Em Baun

But instead of conflict, what she found inside the house was growth. Living with people from different backgrounds made her more aware of other people’s stories and struggles. Over time, the housemates became a support system for one another, helping each other navigate emotions and personal experiences. “Nag-grow ‘yong pagiging compassionate ko,” she reflected.

Being in that environment deepened her understanding of people—of how trauma shapes behavior, how patience matters in relationships, and how empathy becomes essential when everyone is learning about each other in real time. Those experiences only strengthened her commitment to authenticity. Now 22, Xyriel says she’s grateful she never had to maintain a rigid or overly polished image in the public eye.

“I just love to be authentic, and that’s how I want to represent [myself].”

Xyril Manabat_Genzmagph_Shotby Em Baun_4

For her, what truly matters is not appearing perfect or always being camera-ready but showing up as she is: unfiltered, evolving, and real. At the same time, she acknowledges that growth also comes with responsibility. Being outspoken doesn’t mean refusing to listen. “Hindi naman porket strong personality ko, close-minded na ako.”

She believes in accountability and the importance of owning mistakes, apologizing when necessary, and staying open to learning. For Xyriel, strength and humility can exist in the same space. Being fearless doesn’t mean being stubborn. Rather, being brave enough to grow. The same mindset is reflected in how she handles her presence online. While she occasionally joins trends and interacts with fans, she remains intentional about what she shares. The only time she becomes very critical of her content is when working with brands and clients. “Syempre, ‘yong client ang imi-meet nating ‘yong expectations, aside from myself.”

Xyril Manabat_Genzmagph_ShotbyEm Baun_4

But beyond likes, shares, or viral moments, Xyriel says what truly matters to her is building a community—one that promotes empowerment, confidence, and open conversations.

“Hindi ako ‘yong sabay lang dito para sa likes,” she explained. “Mawala man sa trend, it’s okay, as long as I’m happy sa mga pinupost ko.”

That strong, empowered energy naturally carries into her characters, including her latest role as Cheska in The Secrets of Hotel 88. Much like Xyriel herself, Cheska is witty, outspoken, and full of personality. Someone who can easily command a conversation and match anyone’s energy. But Xyriel is also quick to point out that they’re not exactly the same. She describes Cheska as someone who can still be childish at times, and playing the character required her to bring out new nuances that make the role distinct. “I love challenging myself and giving something that is true to me para magmukhang natural ‘yong pag-arte,” she said.

Xyril Manabat_Genzmagph_Shotby Em Baun_

Despite years of experience portraying strong personalities—from Roxy in Senior High to Tonet in Dirty Linen and her recent project for Netflix, 18th Rose—Xyriel continues to explore ways to differentiate every role she takes on. Whether it’s through mannerisms, tone, or how a character carries herself, she constantly finds ways to add new layers to her performances.

Looking ahead, she hopes to explore even more roles in the future, perhaps stepping into action or even playing a full-fledged villain. While she enjoys portraying confident and vibrant characters, she remains eager to push her craft further and challenge herself as an actress. At the same time, she hopes that the friendships formed during their time in PBB will continue to grow alongside their careers.

“Kung ano ‘yong friendship na nakuha namin, ‘yon pa rin yung matatakbuhan namin.”

Xyril Manabat_Genzmagph_Shotby Em Baun_

As they all move forward—building careers, navigating adulthood, and discovering who they are outside the reality show house—those connections, she believes, will remain one of the most meaningful things they take with them.

Bianca de Vera on Why Fame Should Never Change Who You Are

Bianca de Vera embodies a charm that is both natural and refreshing. There’s a reason her candid personality resonated with audiences during her time as a housemate in Pinoy Big Brother. She doesn’t try too hard to be seen. She just is warm, genuine, and quietly magnetic both on and off screen.

Bianca de Vera_Genzmagph_ShotbyEm Baun_

Known for her breakout roles in 2 Good 2 Be True and Unbreak My Heart, Bianca has quickly become one of the rising faces to watch in Philippine entertainment. At just 24, she’s already building a name defined not just by roles, but by growth. Inside the PBB house, viewers saw her as someone who’s learning, adjusting, and evolving in real time. And for her, the experience became a crash course in emotional awareness, discipline, patience, and accountability—things she says are essential not just in reality TV, but in the entertainment industry as a whole.

Bianca de Vera_Genzmagph_ShotbyEm Baun_

But beyond the growing fame and the fast-paced rise in visibility, Bianca stays grounded in something simple but powerful: her sense of self. She credits her family and close circle for keeping her anchored, reminding her of who she is beyond the cameras and the noise of public attention.

“I protect that by making Bianca the person still the same Bianca without the spotlight. I still value simple moments like family time, simple conversations, and staying connected to people. Kasi, for me, fame can change your environment, but it should never change your core.”

Bianca de Vera_Genzmagph_ShotbyEm Baun_

For Bianca, staying grounded is a constant intentional choice. Not a mere coincidence. It’s about choosing real-life moments over pressure, presence over performance, and authenticity over expectation. As a Gen Z artist, she’s also very aware of the pull of social media. With millions of followers across platforms, she sees it as a bridge for connection and not a definition of identity. She embraces trends when they feel aligned, but she doesn’t force herself into anything that doesn’t feel real.

Bianca de Vera_Genzmagph_ShotbyEm Baun_

“I stay open to learning trends because that’s part of growth. But I always ask myself first, ‘Is this still me?’ If it doesn’t feel authentic or doesn’t match my values, I believe it’s okay not to follow everything. Because trends change, but your character is what people will remember.”

Bianca de Vera_Genzmagph_ShotbyEm Baun_

As she continues navigating her career in the industry, Bianca hopes to keep growing not just as an actress but, most importantly, as a person. She looks forward to roles that challenge her and allow audiences to see different layers of who she is becoming. “I hope to build a career that’s not just successful but meaningful.” She also shares this journey with her duo, Dustin Yu, hoping that as they continue working together, they also continue growing side by side in the industry.

“More than the achievements, I hope we stayed kind, stayed grounded, and stayed grateful through everything.”

Bianca de Vera_Genzmagph_ShotbyEm Baun_

For Bianca, beyond the spotlight and success, longevity in the entertainment industry is not just about talent. It’s about character, consistency, and staying true no matter how loud the world gets.

Dustin Yu on Trusting the Process

More than the drama, challenges, and emotional moments inside the Pinoy Big Brother house, one of the things that made PBB Celebrity Collab stand out was the unexpected connections that formed, especially the duos that didn’t just deliver chemistry on screen but also made audiences feel kilig in a way that felt light, natural, and real. One of the pairings that captured this energy was the ‘DustBia’ duo, whose chemistry radiated warmth both on and off screen. One that reflects a Gen Z kind of connection: fun, genuine, and easy.

This energy continued to shine in their 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival entry, Love You So Bad, a romantic drama that further highlighted their natural dynamic. For Dustin Yu, what stood out wasn’t just the on-screen chemistry but the growth that happened behind the scenes, especially inside the PBB house, where personalities were constantly tested, shaped, and revealed.

As he spent time with housemates coming from different backgrounds and perspectives, Dustin shared how one of the biggest changes in him was learning patience.

“It taught me how to stay calm, listen more, and understand others before reacting. That experience made me more mature, grounded, and appreciative of teamwork and relationships.”

Dustin Yu_Genzmagph_ShotbyEm Baun

For him, more than just a reality show, Pinoy Big Brother provided a space for reflection and personal development. The challenges pushed him out of his comfort zone, forcing him to adapt, collaborate, and understand people in ways he hadn’t before. And through it all, he realized something important: growth doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens in connection.

“Trusting the process is just as important as hard work. Growth takes time, and each and every step along the journey matters. Every experience, good or bad, has helped me become the person I am today.”

Dustin Yu_Genzmagph_ShotbyEm Baun

Dustin also shared that staying close to his loved ones has been key in keeping him grounded. Despite being in the entertainment industry, he makes it a point to protect his personal life by setting boundaries and keeping certain parts private. He does it so he never loses sight of where he came from.

He describes his personality as someone who is more relaxed, grounded, and approachable, especially when compared to his character Edward Arellano in TSOH88, who he sees as more intense, confident, and sometimes boastful. While Edward leans into seriousness and boldness, Dustin brings a calmer and more easygoing energy, both on set and in real life.

Dustin Yu_Genzmagph_Shotby Em Baun

Now transitioning from the PBB house to projects like Love You So Bad and The Secrets of Hotel 88, Dustin carries with him a more intentional mindset about growth. Social media, fast-paced opportunities, and rising visibility all come with pressure, but he’s learned to pause, reflect, and choose what aligns with who he is.

Dustin Yu_Genzmagph_ShotbyEm Baun_600005

He remains open to exploring new things but is careful not to lose his values in the process. For him, every decision is part of shaping not just his career but also his character. As he continues building his path in the industry, Dustin hopes to keep evolving not just as an actor but as a person who is always learning, always improving, and always open to being challenged.

“I hope to continue improving my craft and accept projects that will challenge me creatively, push me out of my comfort zone, and allow me to learn from every experience.”

Dustin Yu_Genzmagph_Shotby Em Baun_600001

And as part of a growing duo with Bianca de Vera, he hopes that their journey continues to be one of mutual support and shared growth, creating meaningful projects while staying grounded in the process and continuing to bring joy and inspiration to those who follow their story.

Will Ashley on Exploring Beyond the Comfort Bubble

One would assume that the entertainment industry is built for extroverts. It can be quite true, especially since the job naturally requires constant interaction, public visibility, and the ability to connect with audiences instantly. It’s easy to assume that quieter personalities might struggle to find their place in such an environment.

But Will Ashley proves that there is space in showbiz for those who are more introspective, observant, and quietly determined. Growth sometimes begins outside the comfort bubble, and stepping into unfamiliar territory can open doors one never imagined.

Will-Ashley_Genzmagph_ShotbyEm Baun

Will’s journey into the industry began through workshops in an agency that trained aspiring talent for commercials. Those early experiences became a turning point in building the confidence he once lacked.

“Doon na-boost ‘yung confidence ko because before ako pumasok sa showbiz, talagang super, super shy [ko]. So, kinailangan ko talaga ‘yung workshop.”

Will-Ashley_Genzmagph_Shotby Em.Baun

Before discovering his love for acting, Will actually dreamed of becoming a doctor. It’s easy to picture him in a white coat—calm, thoughtful, and reassuring. But when he was nine years old, something shifted. Watching television series on GMA Network sparked a different kind of inspiration. Seeing actors move audiences emotionally made him realize the powerful impact storytelling could have.

“Kaya parang doon ko na-realize na, bakit hindi ko i-try? Gusto ko ring maka-inspire ng mga tao.” If he couldn’t become a doctor who heals people physically, perhaps he could inspire others through the stories he brings to life on screen.

Will-Ashley_Genzmagph_Shotby Em.Baun

Even before entering the PBB house, Will had already appeared in several notable projects such as Balota, Bar Boys, The Lost Recipe, and Unbreak My Heart. Yet it was through PBB that audiences truly saw the person behind the characters he portrayed. Despite his growing portfolio, joining the reality show was far from an easy decision. His naturally reserved personality made the idea intimidating.

“Never kong inisip na papasok ako sa PBB, coz again, shy nga ako. Introvert ako na tao. And hindi ko nakikita ang sarili ko na kayang makipag-vibe with other people na bago talaga sa akin. So, sobrang scared talaga ako.”

Will-Ashley_Genzmagph_Shotby Em.Baun

It took courage and a leap of faith to audition. But once inside the house, Will discovered that stepping outside his comfort zone could lead to unexpected growth. Beyond forming strong friendships with fellow housemates, he also gained a wider support system from audiences who connected with his sincerity. “Nagkaroon ako ng mas maraming taong sumusuporta sa akin.”

For Will, the experience also meant embracing a mindset he now carries with him moving forward. “Maging open ako sa lahat ng bagay.” The once-shy young actor slowly learned to step outside the safe spaces he had grown used to. Interacting with new people, adapting to unfamiliar situations, and allowing himself to try things that once felt intimidating became part of his personal transformation. Looking back, he even found himself wishing he had taken those risks earlier. “Sana dati ko pa siya ginawa. Sana andaming difference ang nagawa kung nagawa ko siya before.” Truly, sometimes, growth begins the moment you allow yourself to try—despite uncertainty.

Will Ashley_Genzmagph_Shotby @Em.Baun

His time in PBB strengthened both his confidence and his outlook on life. “Doon na-boost ‘yung tingin ko sa sarili ko. Mas naging carefree talaga sa lahat ng gagawin ko.” One philosophy he now holds close is to always do things that his future self will thank him for. Opportunities may come and go, but growth happens when you choose to give your best in every experience. “Huwag matakot na mag-fail kasi doon ka rin naman matututo sa experience.” Failures, challenges, and doubts may appear along the way, but they are often the same moments that shape resilience and self-belief. “Push lang nang push.”

These values also reflect in his latest role as Kiko Endaya in The Secrets of Hotel 88. One of the similarities he sees between himself and the character is the strong sense of loyalty to the people they care about.

“Ipaglalaban ‘yung tama para sa mga friends, sa family.”

Will-Ashley_Genzmagph_Shotby Em.Baun

As he continues navigating the demands of the industry, Will has learned the importance of maintaining balance between public life and personal life. For him, setting boundaries helps him stay grounded. “Gusto ko kung ano ‘yung ginagawa ko sa trabaho, ibang-iba ‘yung gagawin ko dito sa private life ko.” Spending time with friends and family allows him to recharge outside the pressures of showbiz, a support system that keeps him steady even as public attention grows stronger.

In an age where social media gives audiences unprecedented access to celebrities, Will acknowledges that criticism and negative comments can sometimes come with the territory. Rather than letting them define his journey, he focuses on what can help him grow. “Ang social media, nandiyan na ‘yan. Hindi na natin maiiwasan.” Constructive feedback, he believes, can become a tool for improvement, while unnecessary negativity is simply part of the environment one learns to navigate with maturity.

Will-Ashley_Genzmagph_Shotby Em.Baun

With the kind of bond they have formed inside the PBB house, Will hopes to continue collaborating with his fellow former housemates while also exploring opportunities to work with other artists. For him, every collaboration becomes another chance to learn and develop his craft.

“I think it’s better din na maipakita namin ‘yung kanya-kanya naming talents. Kasi deserve din naman ng bawat isa ‘yung credit. I hope na magkaroon ng mas maraming opportunity na maipakita ang kanya-kanyang galing namin, kung saanman.”

Indeed, a lot of doors can open when you take the courage to turn the knob. Growth rarely happens within the comfort bubble. Sometimes, the most meaningful transformations begin the moment we choose to step beyond it and discover what we are capable of becoming.

Ralph de Leon on Strength, Struggle, and Self-Belief

It’s easy to assume that life in the entertainment industry is all fun, fame, and financial stability. But if there’s one thing Ralph de Leon has learned, it’s that showbiz is a delicate balance of waiting, patience, and determination. Behind the lights and cameras is a constant process of introspection—an inner battle that often goes unseen.

As someone who has always been an achiever in academics and athletics, it would be easy to think Ralph could excel at everything he sets his mind to. But in past interviews and throughout his journey inside PBB, he has been open about the reality that opportunities don’t always come when or how you expect them to.

Before entering PBB, Ralph spent six months in limbo, waiting for the next opportunity. With no clear assurance of an upcoming project and with life moving quickly for everyone around him, it was easy to feel left behind. When you see others steadily reaching milestones, doubt can quietly creep in.

“Feeling ko talaga, wala na. Wala na akong trabahong makukuha. Antagal na ng parents ko na naghihintay for something to happen in my career, and wala pa rin.”

Still, the young actor held on to faith. Faith in timing. Faith in patience. Faith that the right opportunity would eventually come. And when PBB did, it felt like the ultimate plot twist in his life. Now, with many people looking up to him and following his journey, Ralph feels a deeper sense of responsibility with every opportunity given to him.

“Sobrang daming mga nakatingin sa amin. I really feel like being a good example to everyone, especially the youth, of how I’ve been living my life and how I’m still living my life.”

Ralph de Leon_Genzmagph_ShotbyEm Baun_

More than anything, he hopes to encourage young people, especially those growing up in today’s fast-paced digital environment, to take action and explore life beyond the screen. For Ralph, there is so much more to experience, achieve, and discover when you surround yourself with the right people.

“And up till now, parang ganun pa rin yung mindset ko when it comes to my career. Trying to balance out everything from my work to my family life to my friends. So parang yun yung feeling ko sobrang importante sa youth ngayon: na hindi lang ma-stuck sa cellphone. Na ang daming puwedeng gawin. Andaming pwede pang ma-achieve. And you can do that with a great support system and the right people around you.”

Ralph de Leon_Genzmagph_Shotby Em.Baun

Inside the PBB house, many of the doubts he carried before slowly started to fade. Being surrounded by housemates who uplifted one another gave him a newfound confidence and sense of belonging. “Grabe talaga ‘yong natulong nila sa akin. Parang feeling ko kaya kong gawin ang lahat.”

Like any show that captures the public’s attention, PBB also came with its share of critics and negativity. But the people around him, both inside the house and among the supporters outside, helped him face those challenges with strength.

“It’s really nice to be able to depend on people and just help boost your confidence in whatever you do.”

Ralph de Leon_Genzmagph_Shotby Em Baun

Beyond the friendships formed in the house, Ralph continues to draw strength from his family. Their support helps him stay grounded, especially when the pressures of the entertainment industry begin to feel overwhelming. “Sobrang lakas dapat ng domestic support system para alam mong you can stay grounded, and I’m still going back to my roots even though so many people are saying so much stuff around me.”

Like many young artists entering the industry, Ralph is still navigating his way through showbiz. He acknowledges that he is still in the process of learning the ropes. In fact, there was a time when he struggled with confidence, especially when standing in front of large crowds. But after PBB—after witnessing the overwhelming support from fans, including the moment when they sold out the Araneta Coliseum with thousands more watching online from the Philippines and abroad—something shifted in him.

“Kailangan kong give lahat ng effort ko and just break down my walls for everyone to see who I really am and what I can offer in this industry. I just really wanted to give my best thoughts and put on a good show.”

Ralph de Leon_Genzmagph_Shotby Em Baun

Since then, Ralph has continued putting in the work, constantly striving to grow and improve. But thriving in the industry, for him, doesn’t mean blindly following every viral trend. “If it doesn’t compromise my values, parang hindi naman ako against it.” Even when it comes to dance trends, something he openly admits he isn’t naturally good at, Ralph approaches it with the same mindset: enjoy the process and keep improving. His supporters often playfully tease him about it, but the interactions have become part of the fun.

“I feel like people are waiting for it, kasi I think they’re still waiting if I’m still the same na hindi makagalaw masyado. Pero ako, nag-eenjoy lang din ako. Kasi, it’s fun. What I’m doing, a lot of people really don’t get this much attention for just having fun. So, ako, I’m so blessed to just have a good time with them online.” Because of the authenticity he brings online, Ralph isn’t bothered when fans jokingly “dogshow” his posts. Instead, he appreciates the connection it creates. For him, it’s a reminder that staying true to yourself matters more than perfection.

Ralph de Leon_Genzmagph_Shotby Em Baun

Now, his goal is to be happy and make people happy, whether through acting, hosting, dancing, or even the most random videos online. Interestingly, that same determination mirrors the spirit of his character, Martin Madrigal, in TSOH88. Both share the same drive to prove themselves and show others what they are capable of achieving.

“Yun yung pinaka-similarity namin. Kahit ano gagawin namin to show na, ‘Eto kami. I’ll prove your doubts wrong.’”

Ralph de Leon_Genzmagph_Shotby Em Baun

As Ralph continues to grow in the industry, he hopes to keep the relationships he has built along the way, from his PBB housemates to the people he now works with in TSOH88. At the same time, he remains committed to improving his craft: becoming a better actor, host, and performer with every opportunity.

Through workshops, new experiences, and the trust of the people who believe in him, Ralph is determined to keep showing up and giving his best, proving that the faith placed in him was never misplaced and that he truly deserves his place in the industry because he has been willing to put in the work, stay patient through the waiting, and keep believing in himself even when the path forward wasn’t always clear.

River Joseph on Growing into a Better Actor and Person

They say you never truly know a person until you’ve seen them go through hardships. But occasionally, it’s not just struggles that shape someone. Fame, recognition, and influence can also test a person’s character. In an industry where visibility grants the power to influence others, the spotlight can easily carry one away. For River Joseph, staying grounded and intentional has always been the goal.

From starting in commercials and guest appearances to eventually stepping inside the PBB house, River has seen firsthand the reach and responsibility that come with being in the public eye. Opening up parts of his life on national television allowed audiences to see who he really is—his story, his values, and the way he sees the world. With that visibility also came a more profound awareness of the role he now plays for those watching him.

“I believe that great responsibility comes with great power. So, having such a wide audience, we have the responsibility to be good role models, especially to the younger generations.”

And while this could be a lot of pressure for someone just starting in the industry, for River, the answer has always been simple: to stay authentic. Rather than trying to present a perfect image, he believes in showing people the reality of growth—the wins, the mistakes, and the lessons that come with them.

“It’s really about authenticity and just being yourself. Sharing your good values, sharing your story, and hoping to inspire other people.”

Before entering the PBB house, River describes himself as someone who was naturally shy. Living with different personalities for months, however, became a turning point. The experience pushed him outside his comfort zone and helped him see people and situations from a much broader perspective.

“I learned to understand them more, know them more, and not judge people for why they act that way.”

Spending four months inside the house meant constant emotional tests: personalities clashing, friendships forming, and everyone navigating their own vulnerabilities while being watched by millions. In many ways, it forced them to grow up quickly. For River, the experience opened his eyes to the value of empathy. It taught him to listen more, to understand people beyond first impressions, and to appreciate perspectives different from his own. At the same time, he believes that even with such a public life, some things are still meant to remain personal.

“Some things in your life you don’t need to broadcast to people. Because what you keep in private, people cannot destroy.”

In an era where everything often feels like it needs to be shared online, River believes there is power in stepping back and disconnecting from the noise and simply being present. Because sometimes, growth happens in the quiet moments.

That same focus has helped him approach his acting with more intention. In the series TSOH88, River takes on the role of Leon Almazan, the eldest among the Almazan siblings, a protector, a peacemaker, and someone who carries the responsibility of keeping the family together. The role is interestingly different from his real-life dynamic. As the youngest in his family, stepping into the shoes of the eldest meant learning how to carry himself differently—to become more assertive, more protective, and more authoritative. It challenged him to stretch beyond his natural personality and grow as an actor.

As someone still at the beginning of his journey in the entertainment industry, River is eager to continue improving his craft. He hopes to explore different roles and genres, take part in films and smaller creative projects, and even venture into other performing arts like singing and theater. Like many young artists finding their path, he and his fellow former PBB housemates are still discovering where their passions and strengths will lead them.

River also shares a strong admiration for action films. Growing up watching the genre, he hopes that one day he can take part in projects similar to On the Job and work with filmmakers like Erik Matti, whose storytelling left a strong impression on him. For now, River is focused on growth, both as an actor and as a person, continuing to learn, explore, and take on opportunities that allow him to evolve while staying true to who he is.

Esnyr Ranollo on Passion, Self‑Expression, and Authenticity Amidst Pressure and Expectations

Esnyr hardly needs an introduction. His name already carries an identity online that is expressive, witty, insightful, and unapologetically real. Known for his viral skits, relatable humor, and willingness to speak up on social issues, the young creative from Davao del Sur has built a digital community that sees him as both entertainer and storyteller. What started as short videos portraying multiple characters has now expanded into something much bigger: bringing the person behind those characters into the spotlight.

After dominating social media platforms, Esnyr’s journey has now led him into mainstream entertainment, venturing into films and television after his stint inside the Pinoy Big Brother house. For him, the transition still feels surreal, especially now that he gets to work with fellow housemates he once lived with for months.

Inside the house, Esnyr showed audiences what many online followers already knew: he is a ball of creativity, energy, and surprising wisdom. But even with the massive following he built online, accepting the title of ‘influencer’ did not come easily.

“Before, hindi ko talaga kino-consider ‘yung sarili ko as influencer kasi natatakot po ako.”

Creating content started simply as a creative outlet, a space for fun, storytelling, and entertainment. But as his audience grew, so did his awareness of the influence that came with it. With many young Filipinos looking up to him and identifying with the community he represents, Esnyr became more mindful of the responsibility attached to his voice.

Part of the reason his content resonates across generations, not just Gen Z, is its familiarity. Many of his skits draw from everyday Filipino experiences, particularly the humor and chaos of high school life. During the creative process, he constantly thinks about the people watching and the impact of what he shares. For Esnyr, authenticity has always been the core of his work. He focuses on creating content that reflects what genuinely makes him happy, what resonates with audiences, and what offers a refreshing sense of relatability in a fast-paced digital culture. Unfiltered in spirit yet thoughtful and intentional.

Joining PBB was also a personal challenge for him. After years of portraying different personalities in his skits, he wanted to see how he would navigate real-life dynamics with people who had their own stories to tell. “Lahat kami different at lahat kami walang mas angat na personality sa amin. Na ‘yong story mo doesn’t mean na mas important sa ibang housemate.” Inside the house, everyone had space to share their journey. Everyone deserved to be understood and heard.

One of the biggest lessons Esnyr carried with him after the experience was learning not to judge people too quickly. Interestingly, he admitted that one of the housemates he initially thought he wouldn’t vibe with was Klarisse de Guzman, fondly called ‘Ate Klang’ inside the house. Because of the age gap, he assumed they might not connect. But viewers eventually saw how close the two became. “Parang wala pala siya sa age,” he realized. “It’s through experience talaga.” He also admitted that he once thought Brent Manalo seemed intimidating at first. But living together allowed him to see people beyond first impressions.

“Kaya ngayon sa paglabas ko, parang hindi ko agad nangja-judge. Kasi sa loob parang doon ko nakita na may iba’t ibang story ang mga tao.”

The experience also reminded him that even with a public platform, some parts of life are meant to remain personal. “Di naman lahat ibo-broadcast.” In a digital age where oversharing can feel like the norm, Esnyr believes that protecting certain things for yourself is a form of self-respect.

While many people feel pressure to curate a perfect online image, social media became the very space where Esnyr found his freedom to express himself. When he first moved to Manila, he admitted he was shy about expressing himself fully, including experimenting with wigs and cross-dressing in his content. But the warmth of the online community gradually gave him the confidence to embrace it.

“Mas naging confident na akong magsuot ng mga wigs. I love how parang warm ‘yong pagtanggap sa akin online.”

For Esnyr, respect is also a huge part of self-expression. He believes people should be treated kindly and respectfully, regardless of gender or identity. “Kumbaga, who are we na mamili kung ano ‘yung gusto nila, di ba? Parang, it’s your life. You choose what you want.”

Esnyr_Genzmagph_Shotby @Em.Baun

Like many contestants entering PBB, Esnyr also had his share of doubts before stepping into the house. He even joked about one of his fears: “Baka malugi.” Behind the humor, however, were real concerns about how people outside would perceive him. Would he connect with others? Would people understand him? Would they like him? But eventually, he found comfort in the idea that he was there to show his authentic self.

“Kasi ang main goal naman ay pagiging totoo. Hindi naman pagiging mabait. Matagal ko nang pinangarap ’tong PBB, kaya bakit ngayon pa ako magdadrama?”

As days passed inside the house, the bond formed among the housemates helped ease those fears. The relationships they built became a support system, one that encouraged each of them to stay genuine despite the pressure.

Even as his schedule becomes more demanding with showbiz commitments, Esnyr says content creation will always remain part of who he is. He looks up to creators like Ivana Alawi, who successfully balance mainstream entertainment with digital content. “Nakaya nila. Kaya, I look at them. At feeling ko, kakayanin ko rin. Kaya, I’m trying to balance.”

Esnyr_Genzmagph_Shotby @Em.Baun

After their current series project, he plans to return to creating videos on YouTube. For him, content creation remains the purest space where he can fully express his creativity.

“I’ll always go back to my roots, to my core, content creating.”

In the series TSOH88, Esnyr plays Raphie Salcedo, a character who brings color and energy into the story. “Si Raphie ‘yong nagbibigay ng fun at color sa buong series. Hindi naman comedic relief, pero somehow parang nagbibigay siya ng light.” He shares that working alongside his fellow former housemates makes the experience even more special. Inside the PBB house, they once talked about how exciting it would be to collaborate on projects together. Now they find themselves sharing the same set, working side by side. This time, with more freedom than the structured environment they once lived in.

Coming from humble beginnings, Esnyr hopes to continue growing both personally and professionally. Financial stability is part of that dream, but what matters more to him is using his voice in meaningful ways, like empowering others and standing up for what he believes in. He also hopes to explore new genres in the future, including a romantic comedy BL project.

“Parang slowburn na hindi naman need na conventionally attractive. Parang gusto ko na magbigay ng ibang image dimension sa BL.”

And while their careers may eventually take them in different directions, Esnyr hopes to remain connected with the people he shared such a life-changing experience with. “I really value kung ano yung bond na nabuo namin sa bahay.”

Stepping out of the PBB house meant stepping into a new chapter for these young artists. The spotlight may now shine brighter, but the journey ahead remains a process of growth—of learning, adjusting, and discovering where their passions will take them next. Each opportunity becomes another step toward shaping their identity in an industry that constantly evolves.

Because at the end of the day, there’s no secret formula to success. It takes time, effort, patience, and a relentless grind. In a generation that values authenticity over perfection, perhaps the real key to thriving today is simple: showing up without the filter, embracing every imperfect moment, and letting the world see the person behind the performance.
