After charming fans in the romcom My Love Will Make You Disappear, KimPau love team is back—this time in a suspense-filled series that will keep you guessing.
Their chemistry was undeniable in Linlang, even as they stepped into nontraditional roles that surprised fans. Then came the hit K-drama adaptation What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, followed by the romcom film My Love Will Make You Disappear, where the sparks between Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino only burned brighter. And just when we thought the KimPau magic couldn’t go any further, they’re back. But this time, it’s different. Darker. Riskier. And full of mystery.
Kim and Paulo are teaming up once again for a fresh ABS-CBN series, and it’s not your usual love story. Titled The Alibi, this upcoming romance-suspense thriller is already setting fans on edge, and it hasn’t even aired yet.
Here’s What We Know So Far About the Upcoming KimPau Series ‘The Alibi’
The announcement came with a set of cryptic photos that had everyone talking: detective board meets crime scene chic. We’re talking blood stains, torn-up case files, and candid shots of Kim and Paulo in character, looking nothing like their usual selves. Kim rocked a short, curly hairstyle that screams bold and unpredictable, while Paulo went full rebel mode with a messy look and intense stare. The vibe? Definitely not your typical love team moment. And that’s exactly the point.
Kim will be playing Stella Marie Morales, but that’s about all we know so far. Who is she really? Victim? Suspect? Mastermind? It’s all very hush-hush. Meanwhile, Paulo steps into the shoes of Vincent Cabrera, a reporter—maybe the kind who digs too deep, or maybe the kind who’s running from his own secrets. One thing’s for sure: nothing in The Alibi is as it seems.
The series is penned by Danica Domingo and co-directed by FM Reyes and Jojo Saguin—names that know how to bring the drama and the twists. The rest of the cast and full plot details are still under wraps, but with the creative team involved and KimPau front and center, it’s safe to expect edge-of-your-seat moments, unexpected turns, and yes, plenty of emotionally charged scenes that will leave you guessing and gasping.
Paulo Avelino’s Tease
Paulo himself teased something back in March that now feels like a low-key spoiler. He joked that he rarely works with the same leading lady more than twice, but Kim has been such an exception. “Now that I think about it, never lumampas nang dalawang beses ang pakikipagtrabaho ko with my leading ladies sa series and movies. Siguro ‘yung sagot ko diyan ay hindi nakakasawa katrabaho si Kim.”
So, if you’re into gripping love stories with a twist, mark this one on your radar. The Alibi is coming, and it’s definitely not just your typical KimPau romance. What do you think would happen when love becomes the perfect excuse? Well, your guess is as good as ours. Stay tuned and keep posted for more updates.
