Filipino theater is having a major moment, and PETA is adding fuel to the fire with the stage debut of Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank 4: Oh Sht! It’s Live Sa Cheter!*.
The Philippine Educational Theater Association is bringing one of the country’s sharpest satire franchises to live theater, with Eugene Domingo headlining the highly anticipated fourth installment. Running from June 19 to August 16, 2026, at the PETA Theater Center, the production marks a bold new chapter for a story that has already made its mark in film, digital, and Filipino pop culture.

From Screen Icon to Live Theater Moment
Since its first film in 2011, Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank has built a reputation for calling out the creative industries with humor, wit, and just the right amount of chaos. The original film took aim at “poverty porn” and the indie film world’s hunger for international validation. Later installments tackled mainstream rom-com formulas and historical revisionism.
Now, Septic Tank 4 turns its lens toward Philippine theater itself.
Playwright Chris Martinez explains the move clearly: “Septic Tank has always been about satirizing institutions.” This time, he says, “it is about the state of Philippine theater, where it is, and where it’s going.”

That makes the new production more than a comedy. It is also a timely reflection on an industry currently enjoying what many call a “golden age.” More productions, bigger audiences, and stronger public interest have pushed Philippine theater into the spotlight. However, with that growth comes bigger questions about creativity, access, spectacle, and artistic purpose.
Director Maribel Legarda sees the shift from screen to stage as a chance to create something new. “Film and theater speak different languages,” she shares. “What excites me is how something familiar can evolve and find new meaning in liveness.”
A Meta, Messy, and Must-Watch Theater Experience

Structured as a “play within a play,” Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank 4: Oh Sht! It’s Live Sa Cheter!* explores the messy, funny, and often unpredictable process of theater-making. Actors will play heightened versions of themselves, blurring the line between reality and performance.
Alongside Eugene Domingo, the cast includes Melvin Lee, Andoy Ranay, Meann Espinosa, JC Santos, Stella Cañete-Mendoza, Joshua Lim So, and Marlon Rivera. The production also features a vibrant PETA ensemble, including Ron Alfonso, Kiki Baento, Roi Calilong, Jay Cortez, Nyla Festejo, James Lanante, Carlon Matobato, Eli Namoc, Reggie Ondevilla, Air Paz, and Ada Tayao.
Legarda captures the heart of the show in one line: “This production is an invitation: to laugh, to reflect, and to engage.”
In a world full of streaming platforms and endless scrolling, Septic Tank 4 reminds audiences why live theater still hits differently. It offers real-time laughter, shared energy, and the thrill of watching everything unfold right in front of you.
Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank 4: Oh Sht! It’s Live Sa Cheter!* will run for 50 shows from June 19 to August 16, 2026 at the PETA Theater Center. Matinee shows are at 2:00 PM, while evening shows are at 7:30 PM. Ticket prices range from ₱1,800 to ₱3,500, with tickets available through TicketWorld and official showbuyers.
