Hold Your Breath, Emo Kids! Secondhand Serenade is Coming Back to Manila this August

June 18, 2024

Prepare your emo hearts! Secondhand Serenade is returning to Manila this August. Relive the golden days of heartfelt music that defined your youth.

The emo phase of the early 2000s was more than just dark eyeliners and skinny jeans. It offered heartfelt songs capturing raw emotions and personal experiences. Themes of heartbreak, identity struggles, and emotional turmoil resonated with many Filipinos.

In fact, the emo subculture moved beyond stereotypes during this time. Its music became a powerful form of self-expression for Filipino youth. Ultimately, it was more than just a phase; it was a meaningful part of their lives.

That was Secondhand Serenade back then. A band that made them feel heard and seen through heartfelt lyrics and passionate delivery, creating a powerful connection that resonated deeply. Hence the excitement when John Vesely hinted last February of a possible concert in the Philippines.

Here’s Everything You Need to Know About Secondhand Serenade Upcoming Concert in the Philippines

On August 30, the one-man band Secondhand Serenade is coming to Manila to perform at the New Frontier Theater as part of their Asia Tour 2024. As posted by concert promoter Pulp Live World on social media: “Expect an unforgettable evening filled with a setlist of all your favorite tracks performed live and heartfelt performances that will take you back to the golden days of emo and create new memories to cherish forever.”

Secondhand Serenade, popular in the early 2000s, had hits like “Fall For You” and “Your Call.” Many Filipinos connected with their music.

As a matter of fact, John Vesely, the singer-songwriter, performed in Manila in 2009 and 2012. Concerts were held at the Skydome in SM North EDSA. Fans sang along to every song, creating a nostalgic atmosphere. Vesely described the crowd as one of the loudest he’d ever heard, expressing his gratitude for their support.

Excited to watch Secondhand Serenade perform live? Mark your calendars! Ticket sales go live on June 29 at noon via TicketNet outlets nationwide and online. Ticket prices range from P2,500 (Balcony), P4,500 (VIP C), P5,000 (LOGE), P5,500 (VIP B), and P7,500 (VIP A) to P10,000 for a VVIP pass with a meet and greet.

See you?
