Come From Away Lands in Manila—And It’s About to Hit You Right in the Feels

A Broadway hit comes to the Philippines—Come From Away is finally making its way to Manila this June 2025 at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater. If you haven’t heard about this heartwarming, tear-jerking, award-winning musical, don’t worry. We got you.

What Is the Story Behind Come From Away and Why Is It a Must-Watch?

This musical is based on a true story that unfolded in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. When U.S. airspace shut down, 38 planes carrying over 7,000 passengers were forced to land in Gander, a tiny town in Newfoundland, Canada. Instead of panic and chaos, the locals stepped up in a massive act of kindness—opening their homes, sharing meals, and forming lifelong friendships with strangers from all over the world.

It’s a story of hope, humanity, and how people come together in the face of tragedy. And trust us, it’s the kind of show that’ll leave you laughing, crying, and feeling all the feelings.

For its Manila run, expect a powerhouse Filipino cast to take center stage, bringing a uniquely Pinoy touch to this global hit. Directing the production is Michael Williams—yes, that Michael Williams—who’s ready to make us laugh, cry, and maybe even book a flight to Newfoundland just to say thank you.

“This show is a testament to the power of community—how kindness, resilience, and human connection bring hope even in the darkest times. I’m thrilled to work with some of the most talented artists in Philippine theater to bring our passion and storytelling to this incredible production,” Williams shared.
