Forget your typical birthday bash. Makati just hosted a celebration where the creative energy was unmatched. Over the weekend of March 21-22, the 3rd floor of the YL Holdings Building became a neon-soaked wonderland. Wet Market: Art Market officially blew out the candles on another year. As a result, they threw a two-day “loaded” birthday bash that proved the local art scene is thriving.

The Ultimate Art Haul First, this wasn’t just a market. Instead, it was a “surprise party” curated by the artists themselves. Wet Market brought out their most packed lineup to date. Consequently, guests spent the weekend filling up their loot bags with event-exclusive art merch. Furthermore, free stickers were the currency of the day. Artists handed out tiny masterpieces to celebrate the milestone. Additionally, the event encouraged guests to trade art. Therefore, inspiration was shared just as much as it was sold.

More Than Just a Market Moreover, walking into the venue felt like entering a massive collaborative studio. Because the artists were on-site, fans could chat and connect directly. This presence added a layer of connection that you don’t get at a standard pop-up. Finally, as the sun set over Makati, the collective energy peaked. There was a literal blowing of candles and a shared sense of pride for this community.
In short, if you missed this, you missed the creative reset of the season. Wet Market continues to be the blueprint for independent artists. It is loud, vibrant, and exactly what the Makati art scene needs.
Happy Birthday, Wet Market. We are already waiting for next year!
