The recently released horror film ‘Exhuma’ dominated the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards movie categories, scoring nine nominations, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Screenplay.

The list of nominees for South Korea’s most anticipated Baeksang Arts Awards for TV, Film, and Theater has finally been revealed. Kim Soo-hyun from Queen of Tears is up for Best Actor, competing against Namgoong Min (My Dearest), Ryu Seung-ryong (Moving), Yoo Yeon-seok (A Bloody Lucky Day), and Im Si-wan (Boyhood).

In the movie category, the supernatural horror film Exhuma leads with nine nominations. Following closely is 12.12: The Day, a historical action-drama about the December 12, 1979, military coup in Seoul, with seven nominations, while Concrete Utopia trails with four.

Meanwhile, Disney+’s Moving earned a total of seven nominations. It is followed by The Good Bad Mother and Revenant.

Hosted by TV network JTBC and newspaper Ilgan Sports, the Baeksang Arts Awards honor the best in Korean entertainment, spanning dramas, movies, variety shows, performances, and plays. This year’s ceremony is scheduled to be held live at COEX on May 7.

To ensure fairness and impartiality, nominees undergo a thorough selection process. A diverse panel of critics critiques each submission to provide a broad perspective. As a result, only the most outstanding shows and films released between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024, will be nominated.
