Lovi Poe bravely takes shots for her first self-conceptualized film.

Still can’t get over with I Love Lizzy? Here’s Carlo Aquino gracing the screens with yet another mesmerizing romantic love story that will prompt you to answer one of the most difficult questions battled by those confined in a platonic relationship: “Could your best friend be your best match?”

Premiering this July 7 on Netflix, Lovi Poe pairs with one of the most prominent leading men in the industry who has been mesmerizing audiences with his innate charms and undeniable on-screen presence, Carlo Aquino, in a film that is conceptualized by the Kapuso actress herself. In an interview, Lovi shared how she has been longing to write her own story—and finally, she took the first step and felt that it could be the start of something more.

Here’s What We Know So Far About Carlo Aquino and Lovi Poe’s ‘Seasons’

In the trailer released two weeks ago, Carlo Aquino and Lovi Poe are depicted as childhood best friends, Charlie and Kurt, who claim to be in a platonic friendship. They had been with and for each other until things became a little bit complicated when Lovi introduced Carlo to another girl.

The film synopsis further revealed that “the two make a deal to take risks and look for love again—but they might just find it in each other”. As Charlie’s character points out on her head: “Ayan napapala ng plato-platonic mo na ‘yan. Baka naman naiinis ka lang kasi inaagaw niya ‘yung best friend mo.”

Directed by The Missing filmmaker Easy Ferrer and written by Dwein Baltazar of Gusto Kita with All My Hypothalamus, Netflix’s Seasons taps into the relatable and universal theme of blurred lines between friendship and romantic feelings, which many people have experienced or wondered about. This July 7, join Carlo Aquino and Lovi Poe, alongside Sarah Edwards, in a romantic journey from best friends to something else, a journey that carries a rollercoaster of feelings. “Promise ko sayo, hinding-hindi ka mag-iisa diyan. Hindi kita iiwan.”
