A rom-com set in a zombie apocalypse? Absolute chaos—in the best way possible.
BLACKPINK just dropped the official teaser for their highly anticipated 2025 concert, and if you’re already on the edge of your seat waiting for the full tour dates, here’s even more exciting news—Jisoo is making big moves!
Not only is she set to meet her Filipino fans at the Lights, Love, Action fan meet in Manila, but Jisoo is also starring in Prime Video’s newest K-drama Newtopia, a wild mix of romance, comedy, and zombie mayhem.
Here’s What You Have to Know About Jisoo’s Newest K-drama Series, ‘Newtopia’

You read that right. Just in time for Valentine’s season, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and Park Jeong-min are teaming up in Newtopia, a post-apocalyptic rom-com that’s equal parts heart-fluttering and heart-racing.
Premiering on February 7, the drama follows soldier Lee Jae-yoon (Park Jeong-min) and his long-distance girlfriend Kang Yeong-ju (Jisoo) as they fight to survive in a Seoul overrun by zombies. The twist? Yeong-ju breaks up with Jae-yoon right before the outbreak, but fate forces them back together in the most unexpected way! Cute, right?
Based on the hit novel Influenza, Newtopia marks Jisoo’s return to acting after her successful debut in Snowdrop. Director Yoon Sung-hyun praised Jisoo’s dedication, saying, “The character has an underlying sense of humor, and Jisoo herself is incredibly humorous. That is why I wanted to work with her. I consider it a huge relief. She helped me in many ways, both as a person and as an actress.”
In a recent interview, Jisoo shared how much she loved filming action sequences: “I discovered how much I enjoy filming action sequences. I always worked out on my days off, stretched before filming, and stayed focused during rehearsals to prevent injuries.”
One of the toughest scenes? Running from zombies in a one-take action sequence. “It demanded a lot of physical strength, and keeping up with all the running was a challenge.”
Likewise, her co-star Park Jeong-min, who proudly admits he’s a BLACKPINK fan, also praised their on-screen chemistry: “From the very first moment, the chemistry between us was great, and it was easy to form a close bond.”
What’s Next for Jisoo in 2025
Whether you’re counting down to BLACKPINK’s 2025 World Tour, looking forward to Jisoo’s first solo fan meet, or hyped for her first mini-album Amortage dropping on February 14, Newtopia is definitely the perfect way to kick off an exciting year!
