It’s filled with Japanese books—from manga to Japanese literature, art, and language!
For sure, otakus and book lovers have already heard about this, but in case you missed it: Fully Booked has opened its second store in collaboration with Japan’s Books Kinokuniya. Such a perfect treat to all bibliophiles, its opening on December 16 has made all book lovers excited for the extensive and captivating collection that the bookstore holds.
Brimming with manga and other Japanese books, the recently opened store at the SM Mall of Asia caters to around 10,000 Japanese titles, according to Fully Booked Managing Director Jaime Daez. “I would say that definitely, in terms of selection of Japanese books and non-books, this is the most complete store that we have now in the country. The selection here is much more complete, much more current.”
Here’s Everything You Need to Know About MOA’s Fully Booked x Kinokuniya
Fully Booked and Books Kinokuniya first collaborated in November 2022, when they opened at the Japanese-inspired mall Mitsukoshi in Bonifacio Global City. Recognizing Filipino readers’ interest in such literature, these two bookstore giants have jointly established another haven, offering a diverse and enriching literary experience that caters to the varied tastes of Filipino readers.
“I firmly believe that the selection that we have here is much better—it’s much more precise for what the Philippine market wants. We always make it a point that when we open a new store that all of our buyers really focus on the best-selling and newest titles for that store. So, we definitely made sure that we have the best of the best in terms of selection for this store.”
Compared to their BGC branch, the newly-opened bookstore is much larger, with a retail space of 318 square meters—with half of the area dedicated to Japanese content. It is strategically located on the third floor, next to other Japanese stores, UNIQLO, MUJI, and JINS. “It’s funny because when I approached SM to ask them if there were any vacant spaces for us to open, this was the only available space. I felt like it was a perfect location for us because it’s become kind of like the Japanese area of the mall.”
For those who want to make the most of their money, Fully Booked has always been the ultimate go-to place. And with this partnership with Books Kinokuniya, patrons can expect an even more enriching and diverse selection of literature, ensuring that every book lover finds unparalleled value and satisfaction in their reading pursuits.
Daez also dropped a hint that Fully Booked x Kinokuniya has already been considering some of the “busiest” malls in the country—imagine what this could mean for book lovers all across the Philippines. Your guess is as good as ours. In the meantime, be sure not to miss checking out the newly opened branch in MOA. Also, explore the wide range of titles in genres that interest you, including fiction, philosophy, lifestyle, business, self-help, cooking, romance, and more.
