A Soulful Exploration of Love and Insecurity
Benj Pangilinan’s latest single, Alinlangan, peels back the layers of self-doubt and emotional uncertainty, offering a heartfelt ballad that many can relate to. Released under Sony Music Entertainment, the track navigates the complexities of love and personal insecurities with raw honesty and an evocative soundscape.
Following his well-received releases Love That’s Rare and Nandito Na Ako (a duet with Angela Ken), Benj continues to carve out his space in the OPM scene. With Alinlangan, he lays bare his emotions, questioning whether he is worthy of love in a way that resonates deeply with listeners.
“The inspiration for the song came from the idea of searching for true love and the emotions that come with it,” Benj shares. “The title Alinlangan was suggested by Jungee Marcelo. It explores the experience of self-doubt, a struggle that many people face and can relate to.”
A Gradual Crescendo of Emotions
Co-written with veteran composer Kiko Salazar, Alinlangan masterfully captures the emotional turbulence of questioning one’s worth. The song starts as a stripped-down piano ballad, its minimalist instrumentation mirroring the quiet moments of introspection. However, as emotions intensify, so does the song’s arrangement—building into a powerful pop anthem.
“The transitions in the song reflect the escalation of emotions, much like how our thoughts build up, especially when love and self-doubt are involved,” Benj explains. “The goal of this progression was to capture that emotional journey and the internal struggle that comes with it.”
More than just a love song, Alinlangan highlights the personal battles we all face—reminding us that self-doubt, while difficult, can also be a stepping stone for growth.
Now streaming on all digital platforms worldwide, Alinlangan solidifies Benj Pangilinan’s growing presence in the music industry.
