Tanghalang Pilipino’s Season Finale Brings Two Must-See Shows to ARETE

March 31, 2025

March 31, 2025

Tanghalang Pilipino is closing out its 38th season, REVOLT, in spectacular fashion—bringing its powerful narratives to ARETE, Ateneo de Manila University, for the very first time. With overwhelming audience demand, the critically acclaimed psychological thriller KISAPMATA is extending for two more weekends. As a special treat, the award-winning and heartwarming musical SANDOSENANG SAPATOS joins the lineup for a limited double-feature run.

This is not just another theater season finale—it’s a cultural event. Two riveting stories, one powerful showcase. Don’t miss your chance to witness these unforgettable performances live.

Two Productions That Explore the Depths of Filipino Family Dynamics

Both plays unravel deep themes of love, power, and resilience within the Filipino family structure.

On one hand, KISAPMATA, based on Nick Joaquin’s hauntingly real short story The House on Zapote Street, is a gripping psychological drama that dissects power and control within the family unit. The production has received high praise for its intensity, thought-provoking themes, and compelling performances.

Meanwhile, SANDOSENANG SAPATOS takes a different, yet equally emotional route. This award-winning musical tells the story of a young girl’s love for her father, expressed through a moving journey of dreams and determination. It’s a touching exploration of familial bonds, loss, and hope, making it a must-watch for audiences of all ages.

According to Tanghalang Pilipino, “These stories hold a mirror to our own experiences—showing us the weight of love, the limits of control, and the strength found in resilience.”
