The long wait is over, A’TIN. SB19 is finally back. The multi-awarded P-pop group has finally made their most-awaited comeback with the release of their new EP, PAGTATAG!
In time for the group’s upcoming fifth anniversary this October, SB19 dropped PAGTATAG! on June 9, 2023. This release is not only important to fans but also to the members of the group, Felip, Stell, Justin, Pablo, and Josh, who are now moving towards a new era—highlighting the evolution of their music and artistry since their humble beginnings in 2018.
Everything You Need to Know About PAGTATAG!
As per the group, PAGTATAG! denotes SB19’s growth in the industry, particularly as they explore deeper their musicality with heightened maturity and creativity to be able to continuously deliver powerful performances and tracks. This record is a follow-up to Pagsibol.
This new EP features six tracks that are all written and co-produced by SB19’s very own Pablo. First on the list is the chart-topping song GENTO, which debuted on the Billboard charts. Like gold, the catchy wordplay of Caviteño’s ‘ganito’ (like this) and ginto (gold) weaves a poignant message of the group’s growth after many years of challenges and refinement—deliberately likened to the process undergone by gold.
Balancing GENTO’s hype vibe is SB19’s soulful R&B track, I WANT YOU, which trended and claimed the top spot for music on YouTube upon release. This immersive track openly showcases SB19’s passion, emotions, and aspirations.
Also included in PAGTATAG! are songs like the hard-hitting CRIMEZONE, which pays homage to their struggles and triumphs as artists; the raw rendition of ILAW which evokes authenticity and vulnerability when stepping into the light; the group’s intimate declaration of love and blessing, LIHAM, a powerful ballad that lingers to the core; and FREEDOM, an upbeat track that celebrates SB19’s anthem for a new era.
In celebration of this album, SB19 is also slated for their second world tour—with two concert dates in Manila’s Araneta Coliseum on June 24 and 25, six shows in North America from July 21 to August 6, and four shows in Canada on August 11 to 20. Most recently, SB19 members Ken (who also goes by FELIP) and Josh had been working on their solo debuts and singles, with Ken releasing COMPLEX and Josh with his songs Wild Tonight and Pakiusap Lang.
